Kayla Gattis (17) was killed when her car was struck on the driver's side by a dump truck
Seventeen-year-old Kayla Rae Gattis, a junior at Lassiter High School, was killed when her car was hit by a dump truck Tuesday afternoon. Police say Gattis was killed when her 2000 Pontiac Firebird was attempting to turn left onto Bryant Lane from Wenlok Trail. Officials say Kayla pulled in the path of a white dump truck, and that truck hit her vehicle on the driver's side door. Kayla died at the scene.   read more...

A bicyclist was killed in Boston Wednesday after being run over by a dump truck, police said. The bicyclist, a 22-year-old man from Halifax, was riding between two lanes of traffic on Huntington Avenue when he was clipped by a taxicab near Northeastern University at about 2:30 p.m., police said. The pretty, vivacious 16-year-old was killed Tuesday afternoon in an automobile accident, leaving a big, gaping hole in the hearts of residents in this small town in Covington County. Nicole Graves died when her 2006 Honda crashed into the back end of a dump truck on U.S. 84 near Collins. Those at Seminary High who played with Graves on the basketball and softball teams reacted with disbelief when they got the news of their friend's death.   read more...
Tracy Stillwell (32) was crushed to death when a dump truck tipped over onto her SUV
A woman was killed Wednesday when a dump truck filled with gravel rolled on top of her sport utility vehicle, crushing it and trapping her inside. The woman, Tracy L. Stillwell, 32, of Churubusco, was driving north on U.S. 33 in a maroon 2003 Chevrolet Blazer when she stopped to turn left onto Blue Lake Road, police said. When the driver of the northbound dump truck, John Christoff, 36, saw that traffic had slowed, he braked and swerved into the southbound lane as the woman began to turn. The dump truck struck the SUV, then rolled on top of it, pinning Stillwell inside, police said.   read more...
Nicole Alaniz (17) died from injuries suffered when the vehicle she was a passenger in collided with a dump truck
Since October, the students have been raising funds to have a wind ensemble song composed in memory of Nicole Alaniz, who would have been a senior at the school at 1020 Dunham Road. The piece is expected to be completed by May and played by the ensemble during a concert at a date to be determined. Nicole, 17, died June 2, when the vehicle she was a passenger in collided with a dump truck at Route 38 and 14th Street in St. Charles. Jacob Hidden (18) was killed in a fiery automobile accident with a dump truck
A dump truck was forced to smash into a concrete barrier in an attempt to avoid a fiery collision with an on-coming pick-up truck early Tuesday morning. Moments after the two vehicles collided, they caught fire. The driver of the pick-up was trapped in the cab of his mangled truck and died. The driver of the dump truck was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The pick-up driver was identified as 18-year-old Jacob Hidden, of Orlando. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.   read more...
